Autumn is when the pears ripen and the satoyama takes on its colors. Here are the experiences you can enjoy this season, and those available all year.

Experiences in autumn

  • Pear harvest (August–October) — pick the ripe pears from the trees.
  • Kamigami-yaki pottery (September–November) — make a piece of Kamigami-yaki, Kurayoshi's local pottery.
  • Stargazing walk (October–February) — walk under the clear night sky and look at the stars.
  • Making dried persimmons (November) — peel persimmons and hang them up to dry.
  • Wood-fired pizza (April–November) — bake and enjoy pizza in the wood-fired oven.

Experiences all year round

  • Sushi-making (all year) — try your hand at making sushi.
  • Zazen (all year) — sit in zazen meditation and spend a quiet moment in the kominka.
  • Chopsticks and paper knives (all year) — carve your own chopsticks or paper knife from wood.

Experiences and months are a guide only, and change with the weather and the pears' growth. Orchard experiences take place at the field, away from the inn. Please ask about the experiences you would like when you reserve.
