Rows of pear trellises in the orchard

The Orchard

This is a field where pears are grown. The couple who grow them also host a single party each day, in a kominka located away from the orchard.

A pear orchardbefore it is an inn

In the satoyama of Sekigane, Kurayoshi, a farming couple who moved here grow pears. Blossom, fruit, and the return to the soil — that cycle is the center of life in this house.

The pear in the inn's name is not decoration. The fruit on the table and the walks we can offer come from the orchard's season.

The orchard and the kominka are in separate locations. If you would like to visit the orchard, please ask when you make your reservation.

A year of pears

What you can see in the field, and what we can show you, changes with the season.

How the orchard work unfolds →

  1. White pear blossom

    01

    Spring blossom

From late April into early May, the pear orchard fills with white blossom. If you wish, walk them with the couple.

  2. Pears ripening on the trellis

    02

    The harvest season

When the pears are ready, fruit from the field joins the table. What we can serve depends on that year's crop.

  3. The orchard in winter

    03

    The quiet of winter

After the orchard's busy hands slow, the satoyama is still here. The path to Sekigane Onsen, a five-minute walk, becomes a stroll under the stars on a clear night.

A table of pears and vegetables

From the field to the table

There are no restaurants or supermarkets nearby. Dinner and breakfast are prepared by the farming couple, centered on vegetables and fruit just picked. In pear season, the orchard's fruit is part of that meal.

Snacks, tea, and juice may be brought in. For alcohol, we serve what the inn keeps, charged separately.

The living room

A second home, kept by pear farmers

Guests are welcomed not as customers, but as dear friends. The hosts live in another part of the same building. The guest rooms, the engawa, and the washroom are for those who stay.

The scent of tatami, the warmth of wood, and satoyama beyond the window. This is not a polished hotel. With the couple who grow the pears, come feel a life lived with the land.

Stay with the pear farmers

Please ask early for the season you hope for. The orchard is away from the inn, so if you would like a visit, please ask about it with the season when you reserve.
